The Little Petra VB1 armchair by &Tradition, designed by Viggo Boesen in 1938, is one of the icons of Danish funkis. Presented at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition and awarded in New York and Berlin, it stands as a refined classic of Scandinavian design, completed by the coordinated ATD1 pouf.Originally created as a bespoke piece, handcrafted and produced in only 30 examples, Little Petra remained largely unknown to the public for decades, until its rediscovery in the archives. Inspired by Boesen’s 1934 trip to New York and dedicated to his mother-in-law Petra, it celebrated its eightieth anniversary in 2018, reaffirming itself as one of the early signals of Danish Modern. The pouf naturally extends the concept of intimate and informal comfort.Little Petra is an indoor lounge chair with compact proportions: 75 cm in height, 81 cm in width and 83 cm in depth, featuring a low and welcoming seat and a weight of 20 kg. The frame, made of solid beech and plywood, is padded with HR foam and polyester wadding, with textile upholstery or sheepskin in Moonlight or Sahara.The ATD1 pouf measures 37 cm in height, 53 cm in width and 53 cm in depth, weighs 5.1 kg, and is crafted with the same construction quality: a solid beech and plywood structure, HR foam padding and coordinated upholstery. Both rest on solid wood legs fitted with felt gliders, available in oiled oak or oiled walnut. Natural variations in the materials make each piece unique.Perfect for living rooms, reading corners, hotel suites and hospitality lounges, the Little Petra armchair with pouf adapts naturally even to more compact interiors. The ergonomics combine a low profile, a deep seat and leg support, offering spontaneous and long-lasting comfort. The armchair is tested for strength, durability and safety according to EN 16139 Level 2 – extreme use, making it suitable for contract settings. The pouf is made using FSC® certified wood, supporting a responsible supply chain.Ideal for interiors with a Scandinavian, modern or eclectic mood. In smaller spaces it enhances comfort without adding visual weight; in larger living areas it defines an elegant lounge zone.
