Description

The lounge chair The Tired Man, designed by Flemming Lassen in 1935 and now produced by Audo Copenhagen, stands as one of the most emblematic expressions of twentieth-century Danish design. First presented at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibition in 1936, it combines organic forms with a design vision focused on pure comfort.Defined by an enveloping body and generous armrests, The Tired Man translates the idea of protection and retreat that guided its designer into furniture form. Soft surfaces and continuous curves shape an inviting seat, conceived to convey warmth and tranquillity, described by Lassen himself as the embrace of a mother protecting her cub. The armchair is available in a range of upholstery options, including sheepskin, a choice that recalls the original project and enhances its tactile character.Relaunched in 2015, the design preserves the craftsmanship that made it an icon, pairing the upholstery with a solid oak base, offered in natural or dark-oiled finishes. Small front brass castors allow easy movement without compromising visual balance. A matching footstool completes the composition, further enhancing comfort. Suitable for domestic interiors or lounge settings, the armchair retains a discreet yet reassuring presence, defining a space dedicated to rest and pause.
